Getting to the town of Puerto Maldonado, where we meet all our guests from the airport or bus terminal, is easy. There are daily flights to Puerto Maldonado (1 hour 30 minutes from Lima, 45 minutes from Cusco), and if you have more time or you’re on a budget, by land from Cusco via the Interoceanic Highway there are buses (10–12 hours).
The all-included Amazon jungle tours we offer in Tambopata, with our comfortable rainforest lodge as your base, can be enjoyed at any time of year. Different animals can be seen in the dry season (April to October) and the rainy season (November to the end of March). Major fauna can be spotted often in the dry season around water sources, and in the rainy season, when trees are in fruit, Tambopata’s eight monkey species and its more than 600 bird species are especially active and easy to spot.
Among the main attractions of Tambopata are the beautiful lakes we visit with our guests, such as picturesque Lake Sachavacayoc. And our amazing macaw clay licks have made us a particularly popular destination for travelers wanting to see these colorful birds in their natural habitat.
