Peru is the best place in South America to visit the Amazon

At our comfortable jungle lodge, travelers can spot and photograph Amazon wildlife, walk with their expert guide through lush tropical forest, and explore by boat the rivers and lakes of Tambopata National Reserve.
The jungle town of Puerto Maldonado is the most accessible starting point in Peru to the Amazon jungle that surrounds the Tambopata River. Deep in the rainforest, 68 kilometers by river from the town, back in 1991 we built our eco-lodge and began our ecotourism funded work to protect this corner of the South American rainforest.
Our rainforest lodge’s remote location means that we can guide our guests into the jungle in full- and half-day excursions to see picture-perfect wildlife-rich oxbow lakes and the unique macaw and parrot clay licks that have made Tambopata so famous.
Our easy-to-reach and yet unspoiled location makes us the best place to visit the Amazon in Peru. During their Peru vacation travelers can fly to Lima, visit Cusco and Machu Picchu and then fly down to us for a jungle trip. There are regular flights from Lima and Cusco to the town of Puerto Maldonado, where we meet our guests at the airport, and there is even a night bus from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado.
After a stop at our office in town, from Puerto Maldonado we drive our guests to the river port, where we board our boat for the river journey to our eco-lodge. This is when our guests find themselves leaving behind the disturbed secondary forest around Puerto Maldonado, and entering the pristine primary rainforest we have been helping to protect for more than 35 years. Those decades of conservation work mean that our Tambopata forests are filled with abundant Amazon animal and plant life that our guests can enjoy during their 3- or 4-day stay with us.
