An Amazon trip can seem like a daunting prospect, and if you are wondering what to expect from a jungle tour in Tambopata, below we offer a glimpse into what a typical 4-day 3-night or 3-day 2-night lodge stay looks like.
In the jungle town of Puerto Maldonado, we meet all our guests at the local airport from their flight from Lima or Cusco, or at the bus terminal if they have traveled overland from Cusco. From our office in town we then make the short drive to the river port, where our guests board one of our boats for the journey up to the lodge along the broad Tambopata River.
This boat ride is more than a transfer; in the company of an expert guide, it is an introduction to the rainforest, as we leave behind the secondary forest around the town, and enter primary protected Amazon rainforest.
At our eco-lodge, deep within the rainforest, once you’ve settled in, your first foray into the jungle will take the form of a night walk, looking out for nocturnal species and immersing yourself in the symphony of sounds produced by the world’s greatest wilderness area.
During the following days, in accordance with your pre-planned itinerary, you’ll be escorted by your naturalist guide on forest trails, rivers and lakes, in search of typical Amazon rainforest fauna, and surrounded always by lush plant life and towering trees.
