A stay with us in the forests of Tambopata is an immersive experience, defined by the relaxing rhythms of nature. We encourage our guests to begin their days early, with some excursions starting at dawn, when the forest is awakening and certain species of wildlife are particularly active.
Many of our excursions begin on the Tambopata River, with time to relax while looking out for wildlife on riverside beaches or among the roots and branches that dip down into the water. Along the riverbanks, from our boat our guides and guests often spot monkeys in the branches of trees, or caimans resting on the sand.
Among the most fascinating places in the Amazon rainforest are its lakes. Surrounded by lush vegetation, these hidden lakes are home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. At lakes like Sachavacayoc and Condenado, it is possible to observe giant otters, turtles, black caimans and countless bird species.
With our guests, we also explore the jungle via the trail system our expert local guides know so well. During these rainforest walks, our guides share their invaluable knowledge regarding medicinal plants, Amazon flora, and the remarkable characteristics of Tambopata’s abundant wildlife.
And when evening comes, we venture out again with our guests on night excursions, in search of brightly colored frogs, weird and wonderful insects, caimans, and other animals that only emerge after dark, all the while listening out for the many calls and cries that form the rainforest’s unique nocturnal chorus.
